MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — The Twin Cities Film Festival will honor actress and Minnesota native Lea Thompson with its annual Lifetime Achievement Award.

Thompson will receive the award at a festival preview gala Sept. 22 at the St. Paul Athletic Club. Attendees also will get the first look at the schedule for the 2016 festival, which opens Oct. 19.

Thomson, a Rochester native, appeared in the "Back to the Future" movies and starred in the TV series "Caroline in the City." The Twin Cities Film Festival will host a screening of Thompson's 2011 film "The Trouble with the Truth" on Sept. 21 at Showplace ICON Theatres in St. Louis Park, followed by a Q&A with Thompson and director Jim Hemphill.

Tickets for both events are available online.
