Jack Morris Elected to Hall of Fame; Scheduled to be in Rochester Next Month

Orlando, FL (Learfield News Service) - Former Twins star pitcher and St. Paul native Jack Morris has been elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame.

The Modern Era Baseball committee voted Morris, along with his former Detroit Tigers teammate Alan Trammel, into the Hall. Both had fallen off the original ballot after failing to be elected after 15 years on the ballot.

Morris was best known in Minnesota for leading the Twins to the 1991 World Championship, where he won a legendary Game Seven and took home series MVP honors. Morris was a five-time All-Star, won 254 games, tossed 175 complete games and 28 shutouts.

He also won world titles with the Tigers and Blue Jays.

Morris and 1991 teammate Dan Gladden are scheduled to emcee the Twins Caravan stop in Rochester Jan. 17th.
