ALEXANDRIA, Minn. (AP) — Authorities say human remains have been found in a farm field in central Minnesota.

The Douglas County Sheriff's Office says the remains of a woman in her late teens to early 20s were found Monday afternoon by a farmer who was harvesting a field in Orange Township, just east of Alexandria. The Midwest Medical Examiner's Office will conduct testing to determine the woman's identity and cause of death.

The finding comes as authorities continue to search the area for University of Minnesota, Morris freshman Laura Schwendemann. The missing 18-year-old was last seen Oct. 14 at a gas station in Alexandria.

The Douglas County Sheriff's Office said Monday that the investigation into Schwendemann's disappearance is ongoing.
