Faglade’s complete game shutdown was the motor to the Honkers’ victory, as he allowed four hits, walked two and struck out six in the outing.

Alex Fitchett (Hawaii) led the third inning off with a double, and Turner Buis (Cal State Fullerton) lined a two-out single to right field to score Fitchett and give the Honkers a 1-0 lead.

In the ninth, the Honkers got an insurance run when Jackson Thoreson (St. Mary’s) singled a RBI single to score Joey Czarske (Cal State Northridge) to make the score 2-0.

One Bucks’ player reached second base, and none went past it, as Fagalde was dominant throughout.

Jonathan Buckley (1-1) (St. Mary’s) got the start and the loss for Waterloo; he went 6.1 innings, allowed one run on five hits, walked one and struck out three. Derek Hendrixson (Wright State) pitched in relief for the Bucks; he pitched 1.2 innings and allowed two hits. Brandon Downey (Maryville) threw the final inning; he allowed two hits and one unearned run.

Buis went 3-for-4 with an RBI, while Ryan Fitzpatrick (Saddle Back) and Czarske went 2-for-4 to lead the Honkers’ offense.

With the win the Honkers advance to 7-10 in the second half and 14-38 overall, while the Bucks fall to 7-10 in the second half and 29-23 overall.
