Gopher Hockey: Men Sweep, Women Swept

Minneapolis, MN (Learfield)  --  A hat trick from senior forward Vinni Lettieri powered the Minnesota men's hockey team to a 4-2 win over Michigan Saturday.

The sweep of the weekend series runs the Gophers' winning streak to six-in-a-row.  The team is tied for first place in the Big Ten Conference standings with Penn State.

The Gophers travel to Wisconsin to play the Badgers next weekend.

Duluth, MN (Learfield)  --  Minnesota-Duluth got two goals from Lara Stalder on the way to a 5-3 victory over the Minnesota Gophers Saturday.

That gave the Bulldogs a rare sweep of the weekend series over the number-two-ranked women's team in the nation.  The Gophers' N-C-A-A-leading power play was blanked in four opportunities.

Minnesota hosts Ohio State next Friday, playing on the home ice for the first time in nearly eight weeks.  The Bulldogs travel to Bemidji State.
