Police Captain John Sherwin says 24-year-old Deante Stanifer was taken into custody about 8:30 this morning as he was leaving a residence located about a block away from the crime scene. The 3 other suspects, 25-year-old Eric Tyler Lee, 24-year-old Sao Yim and 23-year-old Traequan Bamlounghong were arrested last night at an apartment in the same complex in the 2800 block of Charles Court Northwest. All four are expected to be formally charged with second-degree murder and Olmsted County Court tomorrow.

Captain Sherwin says the suspects were identified through a security camera video, which also shows two of them going through the pockets of 40-year-old Ahmed Muafaq Abdulhu Al Naddf after he suffered the fatal gunshot wound to his chest during a confrontation with the young men. Sherwin says there was no previous connection between the victim and his alleged killers and the motive remains unclear. He says robbery is a possibility, but statements given by the suspects indicate they believed Al Naddf was responsible for a minor traffic incident even though there was no damage found on the vehicles supposedly involved in that incident.

A search warrant was executed today at the residence where 3 of the 4 suspects were arrested and it turned out a handgun along with some of the victim’s property.

Even though the deadly shooting occurred near the victim’s home, it took approximately two hours to locate his family and make a positive identification. Captain Sherwin says Al Naddf, who is survived by his wife and two young children, had gone out earlier to work on something in his garage and his family was unaware of the shooting had occurred.
