Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A former Stewartville man is being given a chance to avoid prison. 25-year-old Majed Ijong was sentenced today to 25-years on probation and the time he has already served in jail for his conviction in a high profile child sex abuse case.

He pleaded guilty last month to a second-degree criminal sexual conduct charge through a plea agreement that resulted in the dismissal of three counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct along with one more second-degree count of the crime. He was accused of repeatedly sexually abusing a young girl while he was living with the victim’s mother, beginning in September of last year.

Ijong left the state, in the company of the victim’s mother, after the Olmsted County Sheriff’s Department opened an investigation. When the charges were filed last fall, an arrest warrant was issued and Ijong was tracked to Las Vegas before he was eventually apprehended in California.
