The former police chief for a small town near Austin is headed to prison.

A Mower County Judge has sentenced 44-year-old Jason Mindrup to 90-months behind bars for sexually assaulting a woman in August 2013. Mindrup was found guilty of second and third degree criminal sexual conduct last October.

He was the police chief in Brownsdale when the victim reported that she had met Mindrup at a bar in Waltham, and after offering her a ride, he drove her to a remote area and sexually assaulted her. The woman reported that Mindrup then drove her back to the bar and dropped her off outside the business.

Mindrup was placed on administrative leave after he was charged, and was fired by the City of Brownsdale following his conviction.
