HIBBING, Minn. (AP) — Firefighters in Hibbing battled a destructive fire at a popular restaurant, the second fire in the downtown area in recent months.

Officials say flames were shooting from the roof of the Brickyard restaurant and bar when the fire call came in about 5 a.m. Monday. The roof eventually collapsed. Heavy smoke poured from the building several hours after firefighters arrived.

The Hibbing Daily Tribune reported the large volume of water poured on the fire flooded some nearby intersections. An investigation into the cause is just beginning. A fire in mid-June also hit another downtown business, Abel Chiropractic.
