BURNSVILLE, Minn. (AP) — Police in Burnsville say a man has died in an officer-involved shooting.

Police say the man, who was reported as suicidal, left an apartment complex with a gun around 8:25 p.m. Monday. The Star Tribune reports that a search on foot and with a State Patrol helicopter detected someone about an hour later in a tree line near the apartment complex.

A police statement said officers approaching on foot saw the man had a firearm, and "a Burnsville officer fired shots and the individual is deceased." No officers were hurt.

The shooting is being investigated by the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension.
