Faribault Man Indicted on First Degree Murder Charge
FARIBAULT, Minn. (AP) — A Minnesota man is now charged with first-degree murder in the death of a suicidal Ohio woman he met online.
KSTP-TV reports a Rice County grand jury indicted 39-year-old Jason Robert Nisbit of Faribault on first- and second-degree murder charges.
Nisbit initially was charged with second-degree murder in the death of 26-year-old Chelsea Martinez of Columbus, Ohio. He appeared in court Thursday and remains in jail on $1 million bail.
According to the complaint, Martinez traveled to Faribault to meet Nisbit to talk about suicide. The two met at a motel July 31 and agreed to meet the next morning. The complaint says they drove separately to a park, then walked to a wooded area where Nisbit bound her hands and feet, choked her until she lost consciousness, then cut her throat.
