ALEXANDRIA, Minn. (AP) — Sheriff's authorities in west-central Minnesota say a body found in a farm field is likely that of a missing college student.

Douglas County Sheriff Troy Wolbersen said in a statement Tuesday that investigators believe Laura Ann Schwendemann's remains have been found, but that they are waiting for further information from the Midwest Medical Examiner's Office. He calls the death suspicious and his office continues to investigate how the woman died.

Wolbersen has previously said a man last seen with the 18-year-old woman is under investigation. The University of Minnesota, Morris student was last seen October 14th at a gas station in Alexandria with the man.

Her family has told numerous media outlets the body is that of the missing student,
