Duluth, MN (Learfield Wire Services) -   A Duluth man who was granted a new trial has entered a guilty plea to charges he stabbed his former roommate with a sword.

Kyle Dean McClain pleaded guilty to a single count of first-degree assault Friday.

He had been convicted of the February 2013 stabbing, but the Minnesota Court of Appeals threw out the jury's decision. McClain will be sentenced March 28th.

He admitted he used the sword to stab Richard Stewart when they argued because McClain wanted him to leave and not come back. He said he was trying to scare Stewart, but didn't intend to injure him.
