DNR – Chronic Poacher Fined $4K
St. Paul, MN (KROC-AM News) - A bear hunting guide from southern Minnesota has been ordered to pay nearly $4000 in fines and restitution, and has had his hunting privileges revoked for three years as a result of a multi-year investigation by the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources.
The fines levied against 28-year-old Brandon Greeley stem from gross misdemeanor poaching related convictions in both Cook and Faribault counties. A statement issued by the DNR says its conservation officers began investigating the Blue Earth man in 2012, and describes him as a chronic poacher with previous fishing, trapping and hunting violations.
Officials say over 100 items were seized during the execution of three search warrants at properties owned by Greeley and his parents in southern and northern Minnesota, including over 150 traps, six black bear hides, multiple dear quarters, fish and other animals. investigators also found multiple emails and pictures of illegal hunting activity.
