St Paul, MN(readMedia) - The Dixie Chicks have been announced as part of the 2016 Minnesota Grandstand Concert Series.
The group’s only other appearance at the State Fair was in 1995 - at the Bandshell.

The popular country music group is scheduled to perform at the State Fair Saturday, Aug. 27 at 7 p.m.  Tickets will go on sale Friday, Nov 20 at 10 a.m..  The cost is $67 and $57 (all reserved seating).

The Dixie Chicks, originally from Dallas, have been a force in the music industry since their 1998 album Wide Open Spaces, which featured the title track, "There's Your Trouble" and "You Were Mine." That album sold more CDs that year than all other country music groups combined. Comprised of lead singer Natalie Maines and sisters Emily Robison and Martie Maguire, the band boasts 13 Grammy Awards, as well as multiple Country Music Association and Academy of Country Music awards.

With their bluegrass/folk/country sound, the Dixie Chicks released Fly, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 charts. The album featured hits "Cowboy Take Me Away," "Without You" and "Goodbye Earl." In the last decade, the group has remained firm in their identity; they continue to spread messages of freedom and evoking change with their music.

In 2006, the Dixie Chicks released the single "Not Ready to Make Nice" ahead of their album Taking the Long Way. The album debuted at No. 1 on both the U.S. pop and country albums charts. In recent years, the band has continued to tour around the world. Other popular hits include "Travelin' Soldier" and their Fleetwood Mac cover of "Landslide."
