Rochester,MN (KROC AM News) -   The Rochester Committee on Urban Design and Environment (CUDE) and the city’s Energy Commission have announced the winners of their annual awards.

The individuals, businesses, and organizations and their projects were honored Tuesday. They were recognized for their environmental, functional, aesthetic, and sustainable improvements to the community.

The 2015  recipients are:

 

Commercial Development:

OMC Health Pavilion – 1650 4th St SE

Enhanced existing business with major remodel and expansion.

 

Community Site Enhancement:

County Facilities - Farmer’s Market Mural – Corner of 4th St and 3rd Ave SE

A blank wall turned into a scene of growth and prosperity.

 

Historic Preservation/Rehabilitation:

Forager – 1005 6th St NW

Transformation of an existing building utilizing materials from a deconstructed barn.

 

Energy Updates and Renewable Energy:

Assisi Heights

Continued commitment to sustainability with an addition of a 150 kW solar panel array.

 

Community Partnership:

Rochester Neighborhood Challenge

Collective effort of different Public and Private entities to help property owners with home energy improvements.

 

New Building, Public:

City Public Works Transit Operations Center

A 133, 500 square foot, state of the art facility showcasing energy efficiency.

 

Education:

Cascade Meadows Wetlands & Environmental Science Center

A regional environmental education center for all ages.

 

This was the 27th annual awards program for CUDE and the first for the Energy Commission.
