Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - Rochester Police are working to identify the source of a bomb threat that kept students at a local high school out of their classrooms for a couple hours this morning.

A statement issued by the Rochester School District indicates an evacuation of John Marshall High School was ordered after a phoned-in bomb threat was received by the school shortly before 9:30 am. The 9th through 11th graders were led to multiple predetermined evacuation sites. The seniors, who would normally be asked to wait outdoors, ended up being bused to John Adams Middle School because it was raining.

Rochester Police, using K9 officers, thoroughly searched the building before the all-clear announcement was made around 11:20 am.

Under Minnesota law, making a bomb threat is a felony offense that carries a possible prison sentence.
