Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - The Rochester City Council has decided not to review a new proposal for a possible reuse of the current Senior Center property.

Two proposals were submitted earlier this year and those will be the only ones considered by the Council when it makes a decision.

The third proposal calling for a charter school was submitted three months after the city’s deadline. The Isanti-based Art and Science Academy has proposed a K - 4 charter school with plans to expand. The proposal calls for the school to open in the fall of 2018.

The council last week reviewed proposals from the Rochester Arts and Cultural Collaboration and the Minnesota Veterans and Emergency Services Museum. Both groups were told the council could be ready to make a decision in a few weeks.

The council could reject the proposals and start a new selection process.

The Senior Center is scheduled to move into a new facility at the Rec Center this winter.
