MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Two people are in custody in connection with the killing of a Prior Lake man, an incident that led to a police chase in the southern Minneapolis suburbs that ended with officers shooting a third suspect.

The Minneapolis Star Tribune says a 27-year-old man and 39-year-old woman were booked Thursday on suspicion of murder. They weren't immediately formally charged.

A third suspect was hospitalized in unknown condition after being shot by officers Wednesday.

The trio are suspects in the slaying of 42-year-old James Herron of Prior Lake. Authorities say they fled the scene, and two of the suspects were caught after their car became disabled in the Edina area. Authorities say the third suspect ran away and fired at police, and two Eden Prairie police officers returned fire.
