Rochester, MN  (KROC AM News) -  The Olmsted County Attorney’s office says formal charges won’t be filed until Tuesday against the Rochester man who was arrested as the suspected driver of a car that caused a deadly traffic wreck in the city Friday night.

Police say a car driven by 20 year old Akili Scott was traveling at a high rate of speed around 10 p.m. Friday when he ran a stop sign and collided with the other vehicle at the intersection of 13th St and 8th Ave SE, a few blocks west of Mayo High School.

The driver of the other car - 23 year old Kayla Cunningham - was dead when officers arrived.

Police suspect Scott had been drinking and he was arrested on a criminal vehicular homicide charge.  Police Captain John Sherwin says the traffic investigator assigned to the case estimates Scott's car may have been traveling between 60 and 80 mph at the time of the collision.
