Rochester, MN  (KROC AM News) -  Rochester can expect its fourth straight day of temperatures in the 80s Friday. Compare that to a total of  three days of 80 or higher during August.

There have already been four days of 80s this month and expect another one Saturday, which would increase the total to six. The airport had a max reading of 86 Thursday and it may be even warmer Friday.

Normal highs this time of the year are in the low 70s. Cooler weather is expected Sunday but it’s possible there could be another 80 degree day next week.

There will be a chance for rain Friday night and Saturday night and the Rochester area could use some. Less than an inch has been recorded at the Rochester airport since Aug 17.

This has created conditions we haven't experienced in a few years,  as in drought.

The National Weather Service says very little rain has fallen along and south of the Interstate 90 corridor during the past 45 days. This has produced moisture deficits of 3 - 5 ½ inches. As  a result, abnormally dry conditions have expanded across southwest and west-central Wisconsin, north-central Iowa, and south-central Minnesota.

Since June 1st, rainfall deficits of 4 to 8 inches were found in Fillmore and Houston in southeast Minnesota, and Allamakee, Howard, and Winneshiek counties in northeast Iowa.

Elsewhere, severe drought conditions have developed in northwest Minnesota and a small portion of northeast Iowa.
