Lightning rally to beat Pens

PITTSBURGH (AP) — The Tampa Bay Lightning had an answer for everything while getting within one victory of their second consecutive trip to the Stanley Cup finals.

The Lightning erased deficits of 2-0 and 3-2 before beating the Penguins 4-3 in Pittsburgh on Jason Garrison's goal 53 seconds into overtime. Garrison's second overtime goal of the postseason puts Tampa Bay ahead three games to two in the NHL's Eastern Conference finals.

Garrison was the hero after Nikita Kucherov notched his second goal of the game, beating Marc-Andre Fleury to tie the game with 3:16 left in regulation. Kucherov also tallied in the second period, 70 seconds after Alex Killorn got the Lightning within 2-1.

Kucherov leads the NHL with 11 playoff goals.

Scherzer pitches Nats to a win

UNDATED (AP) — Jackie Bradley Jr. has stretched his hitting streak to 27 games, but it was a Red Sox veteran who helped the team win the rubber match of a three-game series with Cleveland.

David Ortiz was 4-for-4 with a solo homer and three RBIs as the Red Sox beat the Indians 5-2 at Fenway Park. Ortiz drove in a run in each of his first three at-bats, delivering an RBI single in the first, a second-inning double that broke a 2-2 tie and his 11th home run in the fifth. Ortiz is hitting .329 with 39 RBIs in what he has said will be his final major league season.

Bradley kept his hitting streak alive with a single in the fifth inning. He is seven games away from tying Dom DiMaggio's team-record hitting streak of 34 games.

Boston's bullpen tossed one-hit ball over 4 1/3 shutout innings to help Rick Porcello improve to 7-2.

The outcome leaves the Red Sox 27-17 and tied with Baltimore for first place in the AL East.

The Orioles failed to complete a three-game sweep of the Los Angeles Angels. Carlos Perez was 3-for-5 with a three-run homer and had five RBIs as the Angels clobbered the Birds 10-2.
