Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) -The Olmsted County Board is scheduled to vote Tuesday on a proposed contract for the preliminary design of a proposed roundabout near Eyota.

This will be a joint project at the intersection of County Road 9 and Highway 42 north of Eyota involving the county and the Minnesota Department of Transportation. It is scheduled  for construction in 2018. The intersection has been the scene of several fatal and severe injury accidents in recent years.

The board is also expected to approve a contract for a major overhaul of a section of County Road 9 that includes significant grading. The stretch of the road covered by the contract is located between County Road 11 on the east and East Circle Drive on the west. The recommended bid for the project is nearly $5.9 million and was submitted by the JB Holland Construction company.
