BROOKLYN PARK, Minn. (AP) — Police say a pedestrian is dead after being struck while crossing a road in a northern Minneapolis suburb.

A Brooklyn Park police officer came across the car accident on westbound 85th Avenue around 6:30 a.m. Wednesday. Authorities say the 55-year-old pedestrian was struck by a 65-year-old driver while crossing the avenue.

Attempts to revive the pedestrian failed. No one else was hurt.

Police say the driver is cooperating with investigators. Authorities say it does not appear drugs or alcohol were involved.

The name of the victim was not immediately released. The crash remains under investigation.
