St Paul (KROC AM News) -The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources conservation officer assigned to the Rochester area has won a prestigious honor.

Phil George has been named the 2018 DNR Conservation Officer of the Year.

The agency says the annual award  is “given to an officer who’s recognized as a leader among natural resource enforcement peers.”

George has been a conservation officer since 2006 and patrols the Rochester area. He was a Rochester police officer for 15 years before joining the DNR.
