Albert Lea, MN (KROC AM News) - An elderly woman who had been suffering from Alzheimer’s disease was found dead after wandering away from an Albert Lea area home early Saturday.

The Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office was contacted around 7 a.m. Saturday about the missing 85 year old woman who had apparently walked away from a residence in the small town of Twin Lakes at 4 a.m. Saturday.

An extensive search was conducted and the woman was later found near an old railroad bed about 600 feet from the house. First aid was administered but efforts were not successful and the woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Foul play is not suspected.The woman’s name has not been released yet.

Temperatures at the time were in the mid 20’s.
