A groundbreaking ceremony was held this morning at Ben Franklin Elementary School in southeast Rochester. Members of the School Board, the Rochester Area Chamber of Commerce and others participated in the event, which was organized to kick off a busy summer construction season in the Rochester School District.

Major expansion and renovation projects are planned at most of the district’s elementary facilities to accommodate all-day kindergarten. The overall cost the district-wide expansion of all-day kindergarten is around $7 million dollars and most of the cost is tied to expansion projects at six elementary schools to add around a dozen classrooms.
