A Spring Day in Southeast Minnesota, a Blizzard up North

Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - It will feel like spring in southeast Minnesota Monday while a winter storm is moving into the northern part of the state.

Rochester and other cities in the region are expected to set records Monday as temps climb into the upper 50s and low 60s. Rochester’s record high for Monday’s date is 57, set in 1941. The city’s warmest temperature ever in the month of December is 63 degrees. It was set Dec. 17,1939.

The warm weather won’t last very long. Much colder weather will move into the region by Monday evening. This will result in a 40 degree drop in temps by Tuesday morning. It will also be very windy through Tuesday

Meanwhile, heavy snow is expected in parts of northern Minnesota where blizzard conditions will develop Monday afternoon.

The National Weather Service says snow will fall in an area from St Cloud to the Canadian border. The agency says conditions will become dangerous Monday afternoon from International Falls through Walker, and the Brainerd lakes area. The heaviest snow is expected in the International Falls area where totals could be as high as 8 inches.
