Rochester, MN (KROC-AM News) - A Rochester woman was arrested early today on charges she was driving drunk with her three young children in the car when she was involved in a hit and run crash.

Rochester Police Capt. John Sherwin says 22-year-old Farhiyo Mohamed is being held on a second-degree DUI charge, along with charges for driving without a license and insurance.

It is alleged she was behind the wheel of a car that clipped the rear end of another vehicle that was stopped for a red light around 12:20 a.m. at the intersection of West Circle Drive and Wilder Drive Northwest, which is an extension of 7th street. While at the scene, the police department received a call from a family member of the young woman, who indicated she had been involved in a minor collision when she returned home with her children, ages 7 and 5 years old, and 5 weeks old.

Capt. Sherwin says, at the time of her arrest, a preliminary test put Mohamed’s blood-alcohol-concentration at .22, which is nearly triple the legal limit for driving.
