Undated (KROC AM News) - A young Minnesota boy who was struck by a suspected intoxicated snowmobiler last Friday night has died.

Authorities say Alan Geisenkoetter was setting up a portable fish house on Chisago Lake when he and his son were hit. His 8-year-old son Alan was dragged by the snowmobile and suffered severe brain and other injuries. He died Wednesday. His father was treated for lesser injuries.

The driver of the snowmobile was also hurt. Charged Monday with criminal vehicular operation was 45-year-old Eric Coleman of Chisago City.

The Geisenkoetter family is from Wyoming, Minnesota and put this post on their CaringBridge page Wednesday:

Life changed today.... We met with the care team this morning. Alan's brain damage was way worse then any of us thought. Most of his brain was damaged. There was never a day we thought we would have to make a decision like this, the hardest decision we've ever made. Little Alan got his angel wings today.

It’s expected the criminal complaint against Coleman will be amended to include a charge of criminal vehicular homicide which could lead to a prison sentence if he is convicted.
