Inver Grove Heights, MN (Learfield Wire Services) -  Police in Inver Grove Heights say the driver of a car that hit an eight-year-old boy stopped and tried to help him after the Friday accident.

Witnesses told investigators the boy was crossing a street in Inver Grove Heights at about 8:30 PM when he was hit. He and his brother had just left a gas station. The Minnesota Highway Patrol is working with the Inver Grove Heights police on the investigation. The boy's name and his condition have not been released.
