Woman Sentenced in Crash with Bicyclist
Prior Lake, MN (KROC AM News) - A Prior Lake woman has been sentenced for causing a crash that killed a bicyclist in April of 2015.
26-year-old Emily Givens was sentenced on Tuesday to 30 days in the McLeod County Jail and placed on probation for one year. She was convicted of careless driving after she struck and killed 40-year-old Penny Verdeck of Glencoe. Investigators said two text messages were opened on Givens’ phone less than a minute before the deadly crash.
