Faribault, MN (KROC-AM NEWS) - Prosecutors in Rice County have charged an Alexandria woman in connection with the recent death of an inmate at the Faribault State Prison.

The criminal complaint charging 34-year-old Melissa Guillette with third-degree murder says an autopsy determined the death of 36-year-old Jason Nyberg was caused by methamphetamine toxicity. He was found dead in his prison cell on September 5th, the same day Guillette visited him at the Faribault correctional facility.

The court document says she has admitted bringing Nyberg two gelatin capsules filled with meth and that he placed them in his mouth with plans to spit them out after being strip-searched. On the day he died, Nyberg was held for an hour before he was searched and apparently swallowed the capsules.
