Stewartville, MN (KROC AM News) - A fast-acting witness to a hit-and-run in Stewartville helped Olmsted County deputies arrest a Rochester woman who is now facing criminal charges.

The incident happened around 6:00 PM Sunday.

Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Kirby Long says a vehicle that had stopped for a red light at the intersection of N Main St and 20th St. was struck in the rear driver’s side by a car driven by 47-year-old Nicolle Orke. Long says Orke did not stop. In fact, she drove through the red light and headed north on Main St but didn’t get far because of a flat tire.

Long says a man who witnessed the crash called 911 and began following Orke. He ran to her car after she stopped and grabbed her keys and waited for deputies to arrive.

Long says a breath test at the scene showed Orke had a blood/alcohol level of .24. She and the two people in the other vehicle were treated for minor injuries.
