Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) -  The National Weather Service has included Rochester in a winter weather advisory through midnight.

The advisory covers Olmsted, Mower, Dodge, Goodhue and Wabasha Counties, along with the Twin Cities and counties along the I-35 corridor. Forecasters say a surge of deeper moisture and heavier precipitation could produce heavy snow, at rates of 1 inch or more per hour, into the evening with 2-4 inches of accumulation a possibility.

The region is also being told to expect gusty winds to develop, which could cause some blowing and drifting in open areas.
