Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - Winter has returned to southeast Minnesota.

A storm has dumped more than half a foot of snow in many areas with general totals in the 4 - 8 inch range. Rochester’s official total at the airport through midnight was 7.4 inches, making it one of the snowiest March days in the city.  Most city streets had not been plowed as of 5 a.m.

The Rochester School District announced just after 5 a.m. it is cancelling classes today.  Numerous other districts are opening 2 hours late.

It is expected to be cool and wet much of this first week of spring with a chance of rain and snow through Thursday.
