Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - A popular road for birdwatchers in southeast Minnesota has re-opened.

The 7 mile stretch of Highway 74 runs between Beaver and Weaver in Winona County  and is the only gravel road under the jurisdiction of the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

It is located in the Whitewater Management Area north of the town of Elba and was closed last month to prevent damage from the spring thaw.

The road is often used by birdwatchers as it cuts through wetlands that are favored by migrating and nesting birds.
