Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) -  Just as a number of Rochester roads are re-opening to traffic, there’s word of another closure.

The Olmsted County Public Works Dept. says this one involves the Highway 63 interchange project near the Rochester airport.

The reconstruction of the interchange is moving into the completion stage with work now involving the NW and NE ramps. Beginning Monday, milling and paving work involving the ramp connections to Highway 63 is scheduled to begin. Short term closures will be required to complete the work and a detour will be provided. The existing bridge on the north side of the newly constructed bridge is planned to be removed this coming weekend. To complete this work, the lanes under the bridge will be closed to traffic. A detour utilizing the on/off ramps will be in effect until the work is wrapped up. The overall project is scheduled to be completed in the next two weeks.

Meanwhile, the city says 55th Street between West Circle Drive and 50th Avenue in northwest Rochester will open in both directions Monday.

The contractor will continue working on paving the bike trail, finishing remaining sidewalk connections, and completing installation of the signal system at 44th Avenue NW, which should be operational later this month.

The opening of the roadway may impact city bus routes and schedules. Commuters should check for changes that will be posted at bus stops in the vicinity of this project.
