Wagner Surpasses 1,500 Points, 9th Place All-Time

The Golden Gophers bounced back from a third-quarter Northwestern run to win their second home game in three days, 71-61. Minnesota (14-12, 5-8 Big Ten) built a 12-point halftime lead then held off the Wildcats for the victory.

New Richland's Carlie Wagner led the way with 25 points, including five 3-pointers. Wagner passed the career 1,500-point mark, becoming the ninth Gopher to do so. With 1,515 points she is just 17 points behind Kiara Buford (2008-12) on Minnesota's all-time scoring list.

Kenisha Bell tallied 18 points, going 12-of-14 at the free throw line. The Gophers out-rebounded the Wildcats 48-38. For the second straight game, Minnesota went to the free throw 34 times, connecting on 24 attempts Monday night. Nia Coffey led Northwestern with 33 points and 10 rebounds.

Minnesota travels to face Michigan State on Thursday, February 16 at 6 p.m. Central Time. We'll have that game on KROC-AM, starting at 5:30 with the pre-game show. The Gophers' final home game will be a week later against Purdue on February 23.
