Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - The Rochester Police Department has released the names of the victims in Friday’s house fire.

The woman who died has been identified as 51-year-old Barbara Thoreson. She was found in the living room of the single family house and efforts to revive her were unsuccessful. Her 26-year-old son, Matthew Thoreson, was taken to St. Marys Hospital where he was pronounced dead Saturday.

The Rochester Police Department says the cause of the fire remains under investigation. It was reported by a passerby around 8:00 p.m. Friday and caused significant damage to the house, located at 1024 10 1/2 St SE, two blocks north of Macken Funeral Home.

A fire department spokesman described the home as a “hoarder house” because of the many items found inside.
