Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - A Pine Island woman who was involved in a traffic wreck in rural Olmsted County last week later died of her injuries.

The Olmsted County Sheriff’s Office says a van driven by 87-year-old Joan Morrison crossed the centerline of County Road 3 near Douglas Thursday and collided head-on with an oncoming vehicle. Morrison suffered serious injuries and the sheriff’s office later learned she died that evening. A passenger in her vehicle did not require medical attention.

The other vehicle was driven by 19-year-old Ryan Kohlmeyer of rural Oronoco. His vehicle caught fire. Kohlmeyer was able to get out but a passenger - 19-year-old Lauren Saner of Rochester - was trapped. Kohlmeyer was trying to get her out when a passerby put out the fire. The unknown person also helped get Saner out of the vehicle. She was treated for non-life threatening injuries.
