Rochester, MN (KROC AM News)  – The Olmsted County Sheriff’s Department has released the name of the man who was killed in a work-related accident near Stewartville Thursday.

The man was 28-year-old Kiel Warnken of Rochester.

The accident happened at an asphalt and quarry operation along County Road 6 around 11 a.m.

Department Captain Scott Behrns says the preliminary investigation indicates Warnken was fatally injured when he became caught between his dump truck and another that was backing up. Warnken had parked his truck and was standing near the rear of the vehicle when the other driver began backing up.

The preliminary investigation indicates Warnken had been having trouble closing the rear gate of his truck. He apparently had asked the other driver to back his truck into the gate in an attempt to close it and that’s when the accident happened. The two worked for Rochester Asphalt and Concrete.

OSHA is expected to investigate the accident.
