Rochester, MN (KROC AM News) - One man has been arrested as a suspect in a violent assault that happened at a Rochester house party over the weekend and another is being sought.

Police Capt. John Sherwin says the party was held at a residence in the 1200 block of 12th Ave NE early Sunday.

Sherwin says two men were causing problems and a man intervened when they confronted a woman. Sherwin says one of the men hit the 28-year-old victim over the head with a beer bottle. The man then began stabbing the victim with the broken bottle.

A 26-year-old friend tried to stop the attack and he was knocked to the floor. Sherwin says the two men continued assaulting that man even though he was knocked out. That man was later treated for a fractured skull and other injuries. The victim who was stabbed was treated for superficial wounds.

Sherwin says officers later arrested 25-year-old Todd Banks of Rochester. He is accused of being the one who attacked the first victim.
