Two Deadly Weekend Crashes in Minnesota

Undated (KROC AM News) - There were at least two more fatal traffic wrecks in Minnesota over the weekend.

The Minnesota State Patrol says a man from Eagle Bend was killed around 9 a.m. Sunday when he apparently drove his pickup in front of a semi-truck.  The wreck happened at the intersection of Highway 71 and a rural road north of Eagle Bend, which is near Little Falls. The victim - 58-year-old Jeffery Ahrendt -  was driving on the rural road, which has a stop sign at the intersection with the highway. The driver of the truck was not hurt, even though his rig rolled after the collision.

The other fatality occurred early Saturday south of  Leech Lake in north central Minnesota. The State Patrol says a car struck a tree and rolled several times, ejecting and killing 23-year-old Samuel Wilson of Federal Dam. The car was driven by 31-year-old Phillip Wilson of St. Paul, who was treated for non-life threatening injuries. The State Patrol says alcohol was detected in the driver’s system.The wreck happened around 4 a.m. on Highway 210 near Walker.
