Twins Place Hughes, May on Disabled List
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — The Minnesota Twins have placed right-handed relievers Phil Hughes and Trevor May on the 15-day disabled list.
The moves were made Friday before the game against Boston. Hughes, who was recently demoted to the bullpen, has a bruised left knee. He was hit with a line drive Thursday against Miami. May has lower-back spasms that have limited his availability this month. He gave up three hits and three runs without recording an out Thursday against the Marlins.
Right-hander Kyle Gibson returned from his rehab assignment and was reinstated from the disabled list. He will start Saturday against the Red Sox. A strained shoulder and a stiff back have kept him out since April 22.
Right-hander J.T. Chargois was recalled from Triple-A Rochester for his first stint in the majors.
