Albert Lea, MN (KROC-AM News) - The Freeborn County Attorney’s Office has filed charges against a Twin Cities murder suspect who managed to escape from custody while he was being transported through Freeborn County early Wednesday morning.

The Freeborn County Sheriff’s Department reported that 31-year-old Todd Tennin was in an inmate transport van on I-90 near Albert Lea when he managed to bust out a window and then jump out of the moving vehicle around 4:30 a.m.. He was captured without incident several hours later in the same area.

Tennin was then taken to an Albert Lea hospital to be treated for minor injuries before he was delivered to Ramsey County where he is charged with murdering his wife at the couple’s home in Maplewood in August.

Officials say his prosecution on criminal damage to property and escape charges in Freeborn County will be put on hold until the proceedings in the murder case are finished.
