St. Paul, MN (KROC-AM News) - Governor Mark Dayton has officially proclaimed June 7th as "Prince Day" in Minnesota.

A proclamation issued by the governor Monday afternoon notes Tuesday would have been the famous Minnesota performer's 58th birthday.

Dayton says his proclamation "is meant to celebrate Prince’s life and many contributions – not only in arts and culture, but also in his many acts of service to his fellow Minnesotans."

Prince died on April 21st at his Paisley Park estate in Chanhassan. An autopsy determined he died from an accidental overdose of fentanyl. A criminal investigation into the source of the potent opioid painkiller is ongoing.

Meanwhile, A Carver County judge issued a ruling Monday approving a special administrators plans for dealing with claims by people seeking a piece of Prince's fortune. The plan requires existing claimants sworn affidavits detailing their genetic relationship with Prince by this Friday. New claimants would be given some additional time to file the necessary paperwork.

Under the timeline, the special administrator would then have three days to notify the claimants if they need to submit to DNA testing to prove their claims.
