MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Minnesota Timberwolves center Karl-Anthony Towns has been named Western Conference Rookie of the Month for April.

The NBA announced the award for Towns on Friday. The No. 1 overall pick won the award for the sixth consecutive month.

Towns becomes the eighth player since the award began in the 1981-82 season to win six consecutive Rookie of the Month honors.

Towns led all qualified rookies in scoring with 18.9 points per game, rebounding with 11.7 boards per game, blocked shots with 1.71 per game and minutes played with 35.6 per game.

Towns helped lead the Timberwolves to a 4-3 record in April, including hitting the game-winning shot with 1.8 seconds remaining to give Minnesota a 106-105 win at Portland. He is the overwhelming favorite to win rookie of the year.
