The frenzy that is NBA free agency kicked off at 12:01 am ET, Wednesday morning and has not disappointed. Minutes into free agency the New Orleans Pelicans and Anthony Davis agreed to the biggest contract in NBA history; 5-year extension worth $145 million. The action hasn't slowed down from there, with many players  reaching signing and/or extension agreements within the first 24 hours.

The big question around here is, who should the Timberwolves target in free agency? They had a very successful draft day, where they added to their already deep group of young talent. Still, they have a few needs. With that in mind, here is a list of the top 3 realistic free agents that the Minnesota Timberwolves should target in the free agent pool.

3.  Corey Brewer, SG/SF

Why not a third time for Corey Brewer? The former Timberwolves first round pick is again a free agent and may no longer be of service to the Houston Rockets. Brewer spent his first four seasons in the league in Minnesota before being traded away from the Wolves. History repeated itself when he came back three years later, playing for the Wolves for a year and a half before being traded mid-season last year to the Rockets.

The reason that Brewer could be of use this season is that the Wolves could use a viable option as a back-up for Andrew Wiggings at the small forward position. Wiggins has cemented himself as the starter, but the Wolves no longer have Thaddeus Young, who served as Wiggins running mate at the small forward position for most the season a year ago.

The versatility that Brewer brings would also greatly benefit the Wolves this upcoming season. Brewer is willing and able to play the shooting guard position, which would be great for Minnesota, as current starter Kevin Martin has a history of injury problems. Brewer's versatility, veteran leadership and defensive intensity could help the Wolves fill out their rotation for next season, and if it doesn't work out, the Wolves could just trade him for a third time.

2. Kosta Koufos, C

Talk about a possible bargain! Koufos could wind up being the steal of this summer's free agency pool. Koufos has spent the past two seasons as a backup in Memphis behind the NBA's best front-court, which is why he might not have the highest value this summer. He has had very modest numbers in his seven-year career but is considered by many a starting caliber center in the NBA.

The Wolves don't have great depth at center and have had injury issues at that position. With Nikola Pekovic coming off a year in which he only played in 31 games, there is a major cause for concern at center. The Wolves do have 25-year-old Gorgui Dieng at the position, as well, but he has been far too inconsistent to rely on night in and night out.

Rookie Karl-Anthony Towns will most likely play power forward rather than center, so there could be a major hole in the Wolves rotation if Pekovic goes down again this season. Koufos could prove to be a gem to whoever scoops him up in the next couple weeks. The Wolves have the cap space to take a chance on a guy like Koufos in free agency, and he could prove to be a valuable replacement for Pekovic if health is going to again be an issue.

1. Kevin Garnett, PF/C

This was the easy one. Garnett has already indicated that he would like to re-sign with the Timberwolves and finish his career in Minnesota. With number one overall pick Karl-Anthony Towns headed to Minneapolis next season it's a perfect fit. The plan already was for Garnett to mentor guys like Wiggins and help them grow. Now, a guy like Towns, who plays the same position as Garnett, is icing on the cake.

Garnett is far past his prime and is not coming back looking to win a championship, but rather to help the young guys grow. KG is also a guy that is going to put butts in the seats for home games. His return last season in a T-Wolves uniform did draw a sellout crowd to Target Center.

Garnett is nearing the end of his career, but he is still very valuable to the Wolves organization. First of all, he has been a great mentor to young guys and has shown the willingness to work with them, and secondly, like rookie Tyus Jones, he is a Minnesota favorite, which is a key way for a struggling franchise to sell tickets.
