Over two dozen KROC-AM listeners and fans of Tom Ostrom gathered outside the radio station this morning to show their support for the embattled commentator. Organizers say the gathering was put together as a counter-demonstration to a threatened protest by a group calling itself Progressive Voices of Rochester, and they decided to continue with their “show of support” even after the protest was canceled.

Tom, who appears on the Rochester Today Show with Andy Brownell each Tuesday and Friday from 10 to 11 a.m., has been talking about local and national issues from a conservative point of view during that time slot for the past 25 years. He also had a long career as a faculty member at Rochester Community and Technical College, and has written a half dozen books on the history of the U.S. Coast Guard that have been published and sold nationwide.

Conservatives seem to love him, while self-described progressives apparently do not. Decide for yourself by tuning in 1340 KROC-AM to listen to the program and join in the discussion by calling 507-282-1234. Opposing points of view are more than welcome, they are encouraged.
